In the wake of Hurricane Ian’s destructive path, many of us at Clevertech North America’s Fort Myers headquarters found ourselves, like so many others in our community, with homes damaged or destroyed, our lives upended by the massive storm.
We’ve also discovered great resilience in ourselves, and friends and family members, along with countless acts of kindness.
We were also grateful and honored when our longtime client and global partner Clorox asked if we’d be willing to oversee a donation drive to distribute hundreds of bottles of their iconic Bleach and Pine-Sol cleaning products to area hurricane victims.
When 10 pallets of Bleach and 10 pallets of Pine-Sol bottles arrived about a week later by special delivery, we worked quickly to organize a stop-by and drive-through pick-up location for local residents behind our Fort Myers facility, alerting the community on social media, as well as reaching out to local fire stations, hospitals, and the Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations. Clevertech employees volunteered their time and hands well beyond the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. hours our donation center was open to make sure the much-needed supplies were distributed to whomever needed them.
Many of our homes and businesses are still in need of repairs or rebuilding. Not a few may never be the same. But I feel great pride in my Clevertech colleagues, and in our generous client Clorox, for coming together to help our fellow Fort Myers residents in making the journey back a little bit better for us all.
